How to Make Turmeric Paste & Golden Milk

Print Friendly, PDF & Email

I love this stuff I put it in my tea every morning. It has helped tremendously with my achy joints and painful knee. It is super easy to make and will keep several weeks in the fridge. You can also use it to make golden milk. You can add some honey to this if you want, I don’t right now since I am on a diet.

Turmeric is good to use as  anti-inflammatory , antioxidant ,help with digestion, immune function, the liver and even possible protection from some types of cancer. This is some great stuff there, are even studies that show it is better than Prozac and Ibuprofen.

Turmeric Paste

1 cup water

½ cup turmeric

11/2 teaspoons black pepper ( helps for better absorption.)

¼ coconut oil. ( also helps with absorption)

1/4 cup honey

Put your water in a small pan     Add the turmeric

Stir and bring to a boil it will start to thicken pretty quickly. Keep stirring until it is as thick as you want.

Take off heat.

Add the coconut oil and pepper (honey if using) and stir until smooth.

Put in container and store in the fridge. I put mine in a pint jar. If you store in plastic it will stain it yellow.

I use a tablespoon in my tea every morning.

To make Golden Milk

Add a teaspoon of turmeric paste to 2 cups of warm milk ( Almond, Coconut, Cow or what every you prefer). You can add 1/4 teaspoon of vanilla and a pinch of cinnamon if you want. Sweeten with Honey, stevia, or your preferred sweetener.

This is great to drink in the evenings to help you relax enough to go to sleep.

Do you use Turmeric,  if so how do you use it and does it seem to help?

Where do you get your turmeric? Or how large a container? My husband has had surgery on both knees, he also had surgery on his back a couple years ago due to a fall long time ago. He now has osteoarthritis. I had gotten him turmeric capsules but he couldn’t really tell they made a difference. His joints hurt all the time but he keeps on working and doesn’t complain. Thanks for info, we might want to try this. …Vicky in Ky

      Vicky,
Here is where I get mine http://www.bulkfoods.com/turmeric-spice/5009-ground-turmeric.html they have 1 pound, and 5 pound. This stuff really helps my knees not hurt as bad. I like doing this because the store bought pills don’t generally have the pepper in them( which you need) and with the store bought you can’t be 100 % sure it is all turmeric. YOu could even mix the pepper and turmeric and make your own pills if you wanted. Hope this helps.
      Have a great day.
