Today at 11:41 a.m. my skies will darken as the Great American Eclipse reaches totality in my area. This is a once in a lifetime event! We will not get the whole eclipse only 77.2% but I am thinking that will still be pretty amazing.
I will be outside watching with a wielding helmet, as usual I waited to long to get glasses. But I read where a 14 and up wielding helmet will work. So that is what I will be using. In my area we have a lot of Native Indians and they are not allowed to look at the eclipse, so our town and schools are not really doing much for the eclipse. In fact several schools and business will be closed today. It is very interesting how different cultures react to different things. I am going to try and get a hold of my sister and ask her about the tradition and why they can’t look at the eclipse, If I do I will share with you as to why.
Is your town experiencing the eclipse? Are you including this great event in your homeschool lesson plan or do you want to talk about the eclipse with your child?
