Week 38 Deep Pantry / Food Storage Challenge

“A prudent person foresees the danger ahead and takes precautions. The simpleton goes blindly on and suffers the consequences. Proverbs 27:12

Remember having a deep pantry isn’t just about having extra food on hand. It is also about having the means to survive in an emergency situation, having all the extra food isn’t going to do you much good if you can’t cook it when the power is out. If you are having a hard time trying to afford filling a deep pantry read my post on “having a Deep Pantry on a tight budget.

Don’t forget to share what you were able to do this past week to have a deep pantry/food storage. Let’s encourage each other. And if you have a question feel free to ask or if you have the answer to a question feel free to answer. If you have a tip or idea you can share that also. As I said let’s make this a place where we can share and encourage others to get that deep pantry.

12 boxes Mac and Cheese / More tomatoes products, sauce, whole tomatoes, chopped, spaghetti sauce ect.

Mac and Cheese get the brand that your family will eat. Mine have ate the store brand for so long they don’t like the name brand. Wal-Mart has mac and cheese for 78 cents a box (This may be an old price not real sure what it is now). Another option is if you have a good cheese powder that you like store that and extra macaroni. Or you can can Velveeta cheese ( or the store brand of Velveeta) cheese to use in mac and cheese. I will try to get a post out on how to do this soon.

Tomato products, paste, sauce, whole, crushed, rotel, pasta sauce and what ever else you use. I can most all my tomato stuff with the exception of tomato sauce, I never seem to have enough tomatoes for that. Even if you can all your own tomatoes it is a good idea to have extra on hand just in case your garden doesn’t do well one year. You can also buy the # 10 sized cans then recan into smaller jars (go here to see how). The # 10 sizes are generally  a lot cheaper then the smaller cans.

Are you getting any information on herbal remedies?

Have you found a wheat grinder?

Nice! I’ve been doing tomatoes too. Also, we should be getting our beef from the locker this week. And a little tid-bit: we got a giant spaghetti squash, and I saved a bunch of seeds so can hopefully grow some for myself next year ?
