Week 11 Deep Pantry / Food Storage Challenge

Print Friendly, PDF & Email

A prudent person foresees the danger ahead and takes precautions. The simpleton goes blindly on and suffers the consequences. Proverbs 27:12

Remember having a deep pantry isn’t just about having extra food on hand. It is also about having the means to survive in an emergency situation, having all the extra food isn’t going to do you much good if you can’t cook it when the power is out. If you are having a hard time trying to afford to fill a deep pantry read my post on “having a Deep Pantry on a tight budget.

Don’t forget to share what you were able to do this past week to have a deep pantry/food storage. Let’s encourage each other. And if you have a question feel free to ask or if you have the answer to a question feel free to answer. If you have a tip or idea you can share that also. As I said let’s make this a place where we can share and encourage others to get that deep pantry.

5 Pounds Peanut Butter / Condiments

Peanut butter, Wal-Mart has 40 oz. for 4.37.  If you or someone in your family is allergic to peanuts get cashew, almond, or another nut butter, just make sure they can eat it. I am allergic to peanuts but I can eat the cashew butter and almond, so make sure that they can eat what you get for them.

Condiments, Get what you use, and keep in mind that you can make a lot of them yourself.

How are the packs coming along?

Were you able to find a CPR, 1st aid class?

Continue putting water back. whether you buy from the store or fill your own containers.

Add a little more to your money stash. Every little bit helps and adds up.

I was able to get 40 pints of beef vegetable soup canned. I am pretty sure that with the extra things I am doing now ( Fair board, the Fire departments lady’s auxiliary, and helping a friend plan her wedding) I am going to have to get myself more organized haha.

What were you able to get done this week?

This made me think of my grandmother’s pantry. It was actually on the walls leading down into her cellar. She always had all kinds of things stored up there.

      Donna,
I don’t know if mine will ever measure up to my Grandmothers but I try lol.
      Have a great day

This brought to mind the cellar where my grandmother stored all of her canning, and I haven’t thought of that for years. I don’t have this option where I live, but we do stock up plenty for our hurricane seasons. It has allowed us to bless others when we were hit hard and without power for 2+ weeks!

      Crystal,
Even if you don’t have a cellar or large pantry having a well-stocked pantry with a few weeks (or more) of food is very comforting since you never know when something might happen such as a hurricane, snow storm ect. and you have no power and can’t get out.And as you said being able to help others in need.
      Have a great day

Oh my goodness, my pantry pales into insignificance!! I do love the idea of bottling and preserving, and I turn my hand to ferments from time to time, but your pantry has me awestruck! Thankfully we don’t have hurricanes or snow storms very often in my neck of the woods………
