“A prudent person foresees the danger ahead and takes precautions. The simpleton goes blindly on and suffers the consequences. Proverbs 27:12

Remember having a deep pantry isn’t just about having extra food on hand. It is also about having the means to survive in an emergency situation, having all the extra food isn’t going to do you much good if you can’t cook it when the power is out. If you are having a hard time trying to afford filling a deep pantry read my post on “having a Deep Pantry on a tight budget.

A deep pantry a good thing to have.

Don’t forget to share what you were able to do this past week to have a deep pantry/food storage. Let’s encourage each other. And if you have a question feel free to ask or if you have the answer to a question feel free to answer. If you have a tip or idea you can share that also. As I said let’s make this a place where we can share and encourage others to get that deep pantry.

10 LBS Salt / Coffee, Tea

10 LBS Salt,

I don’t have a Walmart price for salt I do know it is under 1.00. IFA ( our local feed store) has salt it is stock salt ( this is what I use a lot of the times) it is 6.95 for 25 pounds. If you use this type of salt it isn’t Iodized so you will need some iodine.

Coffee / Tea

Coffee beans store better than ground coffee. But you do need a way to grind them. I just by the inexpensive coffee and use that. Andy isn’t picky about his coffee. We drink a lot of tea in the summer and in the winter. I get the 100 count box for 1.18 at Wal-Mart they don’t have wrappers or strings which I really like.

How is the Alternative washing coming along? I don’t have one of these but it is on my wishlist.

Are you learning how to make soap? If you don’t have anyone to teach you there are several U tube video how too’s. These two books are my favorites for information on soap making.

Add some more to your money stash.

Put back a little more water.

What I got done in the last couple weeks,

It has been a very busy and crazy last few weeks but I have managed to get a case of corn, 6 gallons of chokecherries ( will make jam this winter), and 2 more gallons of strawberries in the freezer. It’s not much but now that fair is over I have a mile long list of things to get done.

What were you able to get done this week?
